Finding a Touch of Balance in Life

I pursue success and want to be admired. I am frequently hard working, competitive and are highly focused in the pursuit of my goals. I want to give so much more than I am able to. I get things done quickly. I find efficiencies and shortcuts in work and life brings me great satisfaction.

The thing I’m not good at is taking a break - or even just a short pause between moments. I can neglect practical matters like day-to-day maintenance and simple pleasures. Sometimes I forget to take care of my own needs as I pursue my passion or cause.

That’s really what this post is about - a reminder to myself and any one like me - the value of finding a touch of balance in life.

I'm learning to take time to make and drink a cup of handpoured coffee, take a moment really listen and enjoy my favorite songs, sit down and eat a healthy meal without a phone or a computer screen in front of me, or listen attentively to my wife or daughters.

In my fast-paced, demanding, ever-connected lives, taking time out to look after myself seems like a luxury. But no matter how time-stretched I am, I know taking a moment in my day will do wonders for my body and mind. As I'm making sure my cup is truly full, I can thrive as the best version of me, and in turn share that with those I love around me... one day at a time.

How do you do to find a touch of balance in life? Please feel free to share your thoughts with us. We'd love to learn from you.
